This Friday night we are playing at the Leith Agency’s launch party for Leith Records (who, incidentally, we are NOT signed to!) at a venue that looks like a bond villains swanky lair. The sexy invite is the 7″ single pictured above.

If you didn’t know already the Leith Agency has produced all the best and most memorable ads of all time, for brands like Irn-Bru & Tennents; including our managers favourite.

Don’t fret if you haven’t received one of these sexy bits of plastic in the mail as you only need to wait till the following night to catch us live. We are returning to Electric Circus, (where we had our EP Launch) for Big Sur Studios label launch night on Saturday.

Doors are at 7pm and, as a cheeky little Brucy Bonus, entry to this gig is FREE!

Supporting on this night will be the deadly 10:04’s and Big Surs own, The Asps.

The gig is also being filmed in HD so get there EARLY cause we want to see you all down the front signing along!

Many of you will know that we kicked off 2010 on the 1st with a big fat, wet BANG, with an Epic26 Club Set at Cabaret Voltaire in Edinburgh with our good friends TokyoBlu. 

We were over the moon at the response the club set received.  Not even a fire alarm half way through the set, resulting in the evacuation of the venue, seemed to dampen the sheer positive energy that came from such an excellent crowd.  

 To prove that we didn’t spend January standing on each other’s shoulders wearing a long coat whilst trying to gain entry to an adult film, here’s a video of us busy at work recording the Club Set so we could share it with you all!  Those on the mailing list will be simmering with smugness to know that you’ll exclusively hear the track first.  Don’t go fretting though poppet, you don’t have to do anything, we’ll slide our throbbing track directly into your inbox…Mmm!

We’ve made a lot of friends in 2009. We’ve been given a ‘clubbing’ by the TokyoBlu DJ’s and also by local Edinburgh producer Che Sindai. We were invited back to the second Edinburgh Twestival at Electric Circus, where once again we had a ball of a time entertaining the wonderful tweeple of Edinburgh. Although, we were awarded ‘loudest table of the night’, I still say it’s because we’re going deaf, but it was mainly down to much sugar from all the beautiful cakes that were available on the night. Yum Yum!

We’ve also learned a few lessons the hard way this year. Kelvin wiped the entire memory on his Korg Synthesizer, whilst extreme synthing on a cliff edge. Allan explicitly warned everyone not to swear during a LeithFM interview, and proceeded to go on-air and say, “whore”. We were shot with BB guns by 10 year olds whilst on a photo shoot and we also learned that if you’re having us playing live at your flat for your Birthday, then better have a mop and bucket handy; as our manager found out…

Towards the end of the year, we were extremely lucky to be offered the opportunity to appear on the exciting website, OneSongGig.com, which is just as the name suggests “A simple, online, one shot, one song gig, which welcomes artists from any musical genre to present a single live performance”.   We performed one of our newest tracks, To the Stars, which was shot at the super sexy Electric Circus whose bar was fortunately closed for business on this occasion so were able to complete the song without falling down.

2009 also brought a line up change, with Kenny Ross taking over on drums from the departing Dave Arnold. During the last few months of 2009, as well as working with Kenny on some of the well known Epic26 tracks, we’ve also been busy working on some new sounds and experimenting on evolving the Epic26 sound.

Of course, a new member also brought about an opportunity to strut our stuff in front of Photographer, Greame Hancock’s camera. Off we went to the abandoned Barnton Quarry on Corstorphine Hill in Edinburgh where we set about ‘striking the pose’, whilst simultaneously dodging pellets from trigger happy 10 year olds. Despite being under heavy fire for much of the shoot however and having to be aware of a potential asbestos risk, we did have a very successful photo shoot. You will start to see the new images popping up in all the familiar places but heres a sneak peak for now…

So that was 2009, its been a pretty significant year for us as a band. So pour yourself something hot and alcoholic and join us as we kick back and reminisce over some of our favorite events/gigs/parties/incidents of the past year.

We will begin with what is perhaps the most significant event of all of 2009, Martin’s Hair Cut. This single event eclipsed everything else that has ever happened in the history of civilisation!

Following on from this at a very distant second would be the release our self-titled EP in at Electric Circus in Edinburgh. We love the vibe at this venue and its fast becoming our Musical Mecca. As well as hosting our EP release here, we also decided the hedonistic atmosphere created an ideal atmosphere in which to film the video for our track ‘Sorry it Hurts’. Although we have found that filming in a venue with an open bar and not get hammered in the process, is extremely difficult. Thanks to the wizard video skills of Mike Riding however the majority of our debauchery was left on the cutting room floor.

We had a lot of fun recording our E.P. The highlight was inviting some of our beloved fans to join us at Sneaky Pete’s,where we set about capturing all their angelic voices singing along to Never Again. Nick assumed the roll of conductor and using a marker pen for a baton he soon had everyone belting it out (“My God my head is sore…worse still”). Then it was over to our very own Mix Master, Dave Keay at Bootcamp Recordings, who worked his magic.

We’ve played some amazing gigs this year. As well as supporting uber-cool Mercury Music Prize nominees The Invisibles (who’s album was also iTunes Album of 2009), we supported the equally brilliant Everything Everything. We’ve gallivanted across so much of central Scotland, that if you set our gig guide to an acoustic guitar backing it would sound like a Proclaimers song.

We’ve played a gig in Saughton Prison with an English gay Muslim comedian as our warm up act, which was a pretty unique experience. During the summer we went ‘guerrilla gigging’ around Edinburgh, playing gigs, well, wherever we wanted really.

……….This Saturday the 10th of October we are sharing the stage with two great bands at our local hideout, Sneaky Pete’s. Main support comes from the fantastic Micachu who released their debut album ‘Jewellery’ earlier this year. Also, we were super pleased to hear that The Invisible, now Mercury music prize nominees were back in town. We’ve had the pleasure of playing with these guys before and they blew our socks off, but they did let us keep our shoes on. That’s how nice they were!

For those of you non-tweeters, The Edinburgh Twestival is a gathering for everyone in Edinburgh who uses the social micro blogging site, Twitter. As well as being a wonderful opportunity to meet the like minded and friendly tweeters of Edinburgh in person, it will also be raising funds for the charity, CLIC Sargent. Its an incredibly worthy cause, so please take the time to visit their site and see some of the hard work that they do.

With similar events taking place in most of Britain’s main cities, we’re very pleased to once again to be taking part in such an exciting and rapidly growing event. Joining us on the line up will be;  Calamateur, Chutes and The Banana Sessions.

As excited as we are at playing our second EdTwestival, we’re equally excited about returning to The Electric Circus, the scene of our EP Launch. This amazing venue has grown in reputation since it’s opening, as one of Edinburgh’s finest and classiest venues (check out the chez longes!). So we’re eagerly anticipating our return to such a formidable venue. Not only is it Tokyo Blu’s 7th birthday party and last full band show, Epic26 are putting down the guitars for one night only and picking up drum machines, synths, cowbells and samplers for play an electro/club set in celebration of everything Tokyo Blu has done for Edinburgh. We feel priviledged to be part of such an exciting night in Edinburgh and we can’t wait to unveil the club set that we’ve been working our little hearts out for. If you have any sense left after this news then you’ll be taking you and your bum down to Cab Vol on Friday to witness Tokyo Blu at their best and Epic26 giving you a glimspe into our electro side.

 Lady’s and Gents, Boys and Girls,
The time has come for our drummer Dave Arnold to give up his sticks. Dave has been involved in Epic26 since the very beginning and has consistently given his all. An all round great guy and complete gentleman, Dave will be departing to spend more time with his ever-expanding family.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank Dave for the devotion and dedication he has shown over these last couple of years, and we would also like to wish all the best to him and his family for the future.

We are thrilled to announce that Kenny Ross is taking Dave’s place behind the kit. With Kenny’s experience and enthusiasm, he will be a great addition to the Epic26 sound, so please join us in welcoming him to the Epic26 family.
